After the famous National Football League and American Football League merger, they joined the NML. The club came into existence on the 14th of August 1959 when minor league baseball owner Bob Howsam got an American Football League franchise. This club won the fist American Football League game against the Boston Patriots when they won with a 13-10 margin. In 1967, they became the first AFL team to defeat an NFL team when they routed the Detroit Lions 13-7. However, the early years weren’t too green for the Broncos.
