Indianapolis Colts Brief History

The Colts is a professional American football team from Indianapolis, Indiana. They are part of the South Division of the American Football Conference under the National Football League.

The Colts franchise was officially created in 1953, although its main roots in history can be traced back much earlier than that. The ancestor of the Indianapolis Colts is the Dayton Triangles. This team is one of the founding members of NFL. The Dayton Triangles were originally created in 1913. It is from this team that the new Indianapolis team was created.

The first official season of Indianapolis Colts under its new name happened in 1994. The team manager at that time is Jim Irsay. Frank Kush was the head coach, replacing Hal Hunter. As the start of the season of that same year, the team had received about 143,000 requests for season tickets in a matter of two weeks alone.

For over 24 years, the Indianapolis Colts played in their home field, the RCA Dome. It was only in 2004 when the Colts moved into their new home at the Lucas Oil Stadium. Their games at the said stadium commenced fall of 2008. The change of home field is the result of an agreement between team manager Jim Irsay and the City of Indianapolis. Both the team and the city benefited from the said agreement.

The logo and the uniforms of the Indianapolis Colts mostly remained the same since the first team debuted in 1953. The Colts wears white helmet with a speed blue horseshoe logo. Their blue jersey has a white shoulder stripe while its white alternate has a blue shoulder stripe. This jersey is matched with a white pair of pants with blue stripes on the sides. The Indianapolis Colts has won three NFL championships and two Super Bowls titles to date.
