The story of the Bears.

The Chicago Bears started out as a company football team. It was called the Decatur Staleys and was founded by A.E Staley Company of Decatur, Illinois in the year of 1919. Infact, this is no rarity. A lot of football clubs had started out as company football teams earlier. George Halas and Edward Sternaman were both hired by the company to manage and control the team. In 1921, the company gave carte blanche to both these men. However, most official documents state that Halas was the founder of the team. In 1921, the team shifted base and went over to Chicago and it was here that the club was rechristened and called the Chicago Staleys. There was an agreement which was negotiated between Halas and Sternaman with Staley and according to this, Halas bought the club for $100 from Staley.Upon the newest takeover, the Chicago Staleys now became the Chicago Bears.

In the earlier years the Chicago Bears seemed to be the masters of the league. No team in the league, other than the Canton Bulldogs could defeat the Bears more than once. Only the Bulldogs had beaten them twice. It was in 1922, that Halas changed the name of the club from the Chicago Staleys to the Chicago Bears. The team now shifted base into Wrigley Field which is also home to the Chicago Cubs baseball team. The team was a success under the leadership of Halas and their only losing season in those early years was that of 1929. It had won the NFL Championship in 1921 and continued to remain as an active threat through that entire decade. The 1950s were a very dry time for the Chicago Bears and finally the club bounced back into form in 1963 when they won the NFL Championship for the 8th time. They did not win the next NFL Championship till 1985. These years produced masters of the game like Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers, and Brian Piccolo among the Chicago Bears.

Their first logo was that of a black bear atop a football in the early 1950s. Then the trademark logo was launched in 1962. In the 1920s the uniform had brown and blue stripes. By 1933 there were orange jerseys and black helmets. The official mascot of the Chicago Bears is Staley Da Bear. The other two unofficial mascots are Rocky and Bearman. For the 2009 season, tickets cost $68.00 to $350.00 per-game. For regular season games, there is a limit of four tickets per customer per game.
