George Strait was born on May 18, 1952, in Poteet, Texas; he was raised by his father, because his mother left with his sister leaving George’s father and brothers behind. Most of his time George Strait spent in town and only his weekends he was present at father’s farm. Being a teenager he joined a Rock & Roll garage band and started his journey to the music world.
After graduating from High School Strait went to college, but soon dropped to pursue his love with his high school sweetheart. In 1971 he enlisted in the army where he started playing in country music band and had some off the base performances. After Strait left the Army he decided to pursue his unfinished degree in Southwest Texas State University where he formed his country band “Ace in The Hole”. His newly formed band had little success, because Strait lacked business connections, but after ten years he convinced MCA Records to sign him, which led to his success. George Strait was only of few late performers who survived a generational shift when many turned their back on country music. It’s his successful round of singles, which vas at the top of country music charts during 80’s and 90’s. In 2000 Strait released an album named after him which is hi only album which is not platinum selling despite singles from this album hitting #1 place on Billboard 200.
In 2006 Strait’s career was highlighted with induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2008 George Strait released his album “Troubadour”, which is a platinum selling album and earned him a Grammy award for Best Country Album.
